Live Sound and PA Systems in Lead
Front of house, monitors, and an engineer who stays at the board
On the ground
This work in Lead
The opera house is the best live room we work anywhere in the Black Hills, and rooms like that reward doing the job properly. Real acoustics mean a mix that is not being propped up by volume, which is rarer around here than it should be. We get your input list ahead of the date and keep an engineer at the board through the set, because a room this good will expose anything left unattended.
Conditions in Lead
Lead is steep, high, and old, and all three shape your day. Downtown buildings have narrow doorways and stairs designed for a different century, so we confirm the load in path ahead of the date rather than discovering it with a cart in our hands and your guests arriving. At 5,300 feet the evenings get cold even in July, which is genuinely worth knowing when you are deciding how long to keep people outside. Winter dates work here because of the ski traffic, as long as the schedule has snow built into it rather than hoped away.

How we work
Our approach
The input list comes before the date, not at line check
Every act has a stage plot and an input list, even the ones who have never written one down. We get it in advance, work out the channel count, the monitor sends, and what has to be wireless, and show up with the right rig patched and ready. Sorting this out at load in is how soundchecks run an hour long.
Monitors matter more than the main system
The audience notices front of house. The performers only notice monitors. If the band cannot hear itself, the performance suffers regardless of how good the room sounds out front. We build monitor mixes properly and check them with each performer rather than sending everyone the same thing.
Somebody stays at the board
A live mix is not a setting, it is a job. Levels move, a guitarist changes pedals, a speaker steps back from the microphone. We keep an engineer at the console through the whole performance so those things get handled in the moment instead of becoming the thing everyone remembers.
