School Dances and Proms in Custer

Clean edits, controlled volume, and a full floor

On the ground

This work in Custer

Custer school events run in the gym, and it is the same hard reflective box every gym is. We aim and tune to cover the floor rather than hammering the corners and calling it energy. Every track is clean edit and cleared with your advisor before the date. Winter dates mean a real drive over the hills from Rapid City, so we set an earlier call time and plan around the weather instead of hoping it holds.

Conditions in Custer

Custer State Park ceremony sites need a permit, and amplified sound, vehicle access, and setup time all come with conditions we work from rather than around. Most of those locations have nothing to plug into, so battery is standard here instead of an upgrade. Wildlife is a real scheduling factor and we mean that literally: bison on the wildlife loop turn a fifteen minute drive into forty, and they will do it on your wedding day. We build the buffer into your timeline. Outside the park, Custer is barn and ranch country and it reads a lot more like Piedmont.

How we work

Our approach

01

We vet the music before the date, not during the dance

Clean edit is not the same as radio edit, and a lot of what students request has a clean version that still has content a school is not going to want on its speakers. We go through the list with your advisor or committee ahead of time, flag anything questionable, and settle it before the night rather than making a judgment call in front of four hundred students.

02

We treat the gym as the acoustic problem it is

A gym is a hard reflective box with a ceiling built for basketball. Pointing a bigger system at it makes the far corners worse, not better. We aim and tune the system to cover the floor where the students actually are, which is how you get a dance that sounds good on the floor and does not shake the offices down the hall.

03

We work with one point of contact

School events have a lot of people with an opinion and usually one person actually responsible. We work through that person from booking to load out. Contracts, insurance certificates, the music list, the run of show for grand march, and the load in time all go through one channel so nothing gets decided twice.
