School Dances and Proms in Rapid City
Clean edits, controlled volume, and a full floor
On the ground
This work in Rapid City
Rapid City schools run the biggest dances we do, and a gym is the hardest room in town to make sound good. It is a hard reflective box with a ceiling built for basketball, so a bigger system only makes the corners worse. We aim and tune to cover the floor where your students actually are, which keeps it loud where the dancing is and civil where your chaperones are standing. Every track is clean edit and cleared with your advisor before the date, not judged on the fly in front of four hundred kids.
Conditions in Rapid City
Rapid City has the widest range of rooms in the region, so the plan changes a lot from job to job. A conference hotel ballroom is a different night than a downtown space or an open air plaza, and we spec from your actual room rather than from a standard package. The thing worth knowing about Saturdays here is that the good rooms turn over back to back, so our load in window is a real one and we work to it. Summer books out early because tourist season and wedding season land on top of each other, and the first two weeks of August belong to the rally in every direction. We are based here, so travel is not a line on your quote.

How we work
Our approach
We vet the music before the date, not during the dance
Clean edit is not the same as radio edit, and a lot of what students request has a clean version that still has content a school is not going to want on its speakers. We go through the list with your advisor or committee ahead of time, flag anything questionable, and settle it before the night rather than making a judgment call in front of four hundred students.
We treat the gym as the acoustic problem it is
A gym is a hard reflective box with a ceiling built for basketball. Pointing a bigger system at it makes the far corners worse, not better. We aim and tune the system to cover the floor where the students actually are, which is how you get a dance that sounds good on the floor and does not shake the offices down the hall.
We work with one point of contact
School events have a lot of people with an opinion and usually one person actually responsible. We work through that person from booking to load out. Contracts, insurance certificates, the music list, the run of show for grand march, and the load in time all go through one channel so nothing gets decided twice.
